ERZURUM (AA) – Eastern Anatolia Project (DAP) Regional Development Administration has provided 18 billion liras of support to 2 thousand 133 projects in 15 provinces within its area of responsibility. Meeting with members of the press at the DAP Meeting Hall, DAP Regional Development Administration President Halil İbrahim Güray gave information about the new term goals and activities of the institution. In his speech, Güray reminded that the DAP Regional Development Administration was established with the Decree Law No.
642 in order to accelerate the economic and social development of the region. Stating that they will build their new term work on 3 basic principles, Güray said, “The first is field focus. We want to make our decisions by seeing the realities of our region on site and evaluating our projects in the field, not at the desk. The second is effective implementation. We are committed to implementing the approved projects within the prescribed schedule and budget without compromising on quality.
The third is inter-institutional cooperation.” he said. Güray pointed out that these principles are not slogans for them, but the basis of their corporate working culture, and said: “DAP Administration will be an administration that knows what is on the ground and its region closely, and communicates directly with everyone from the headman to the governor, from farmers to young people, from non-governmental organizations to universities.
DAP Administration is not a notary that only certifies the file that comes to it, or a bank that is satisfied with distributing the allowance. A significant part of the projects are concentrated in the fields of agricultural irrigation, livestock infrastructure, crop production and cultural heritage. Today, our completed projects serve our region in various areas of production, employment and social life.

Güray noted the following about the region’s problems and solution suggestions: “Despite all these efforts, we are also aware of the structural problems facing the Eastern Anatolia Region. The most important issue is the migration of our young people out of the region. The population growth rate of 15 provinces is significantly below the Türkiye average.
Migration in search of education and employment opportunities negatively affects the demographic and economic situation of the region. This situation means not only population loss but also a decrease in the region’s production capacity and qualified human resources. The basis of this issue lies in the lack of local means and opportunities. “One of our priorities in the new period is to focus on projects that can provide permanent livelihood and development areas for our youth in the region.”
