ISTANBUL (AA) – Eid al-Adha prayers were performed with intense participation in mosques in Istanbul. Citizens who wanted to perform the Eid prayer in Hagia Sophia Mosque, Fatih, Süleymaniye, Sultanahmet, Eyüpsultan, Taksim and Büyük Çamlıca, as well as mosques all over the city, started to fill the mosques in the early hours of the morning. Many people, including local and foreign tourists, who came to Sultanahmet and Hagia Sophia Mosques for the Eid prayers, formed long queues to enter the mosque.

Some citizens came to the mosques with their children, and some foreign tourists came to the mosques with their local clothes. The inside of the Hagia Sophia Mosque was filled before the Eid prayer time, and those who could not find a place inside went to Hagia Sophia Square and stood in rows on the prayer rugs they brought with them. After the prayer, some foreign tourists took photos to commemorate the day. The community congratulated each other after the prayer.

The amount of water in the basin of Karakaya Dam and HEPP, Turkey’s third largest dam and second largest hydroelectric power plant, reached 9.5 billion cubic meters with heavy rainfall. In the Karakaya Dam and HEPP, which has an installed capacity of 1800 megawatts with a total of 6 units, 2 discharge gates of the dam were opened in the first place on May 11, after 7 years, against the risk of possible floods due to the water level approaching the maximum level.

The discharge of pressurized water from the dam set, whose body height is 173 meters, turned into a visual feast. Rainbows occasionally form in the region due to sunlight.
