KONYA (AA) – SERHAT ÇETİNKAYA – Konya Chamber of Commerce (KTO) Female students studying at Karatay University pilotage department are preparing for the Turkish aviation industry by going through challenging flight training to take their place in the sky. Students who choose the University’s School of Applied Sciences Pilotage Department with the dream of becoming a pilot receive intensive theoretical training as well as practical training with gliders, single-engine and multi-engine aircraft.
While 43 of the 149 students studying in the department are female students, candidate pilots are trained to be prepared for the most difficult scenarios they may encounter during their student years. In glider flights, which constitute one of the important stages of training, pilot candidates learn to control non-motorized aircraft. With this training, candidate pilots gain the ability to safely steer and land the aircraft in extraordinary situations where aircraft engines may fail.
– “I always see myself flying in my dreams.” Sophomore student Beril Namver, 21, told the AA reporter that her biggest dream since childhood has been to fly. Emphasizing that he was very impressed by the planes he watched at the April 23 demonstration in his childhood, Namver stated that the feeling of freedom in the sky was very different. Stating that they gained professional equipment to be prepared for the most risky and critical situations by going through a arduous and discipline-requiring training process, Namver said, “I want to join an airline company.
I plan to progress as far as I can. Flying is a wonderful thing. I always see myself flying in my dreams. That is, I see myself flying, not with a plane. I literally live it. I want everyone to experience it.” he said. Second-year student Sıla Can, 20, said that she was impressed by Turkish Stars and decided to become a pilot. Stating that he finds it proud that the number of female pilots is increasing day by day, Can said, “In case of a possible emergency, I manage that plane.
It’s just me and I’m flying. This makes me feel very professional. It’s a good feeling to have the trust in me, not to go on a flight alone, and to be able to manage that traffic.” he said. – “We are obliged to give them this discipline since they were students.” Flight instructor Emre Yasdıman pointed out that aviation requires serious discipline. Stating that the students’ flights last from sunrise to sunset, Yasdıman said, “They should not be tired and pay close attention to their health.
In these trainings, they will fly nearly 100 hours on their own.” he said.
