Forza Horizon 6 has made a strong start in early access, days before its full release. The new racing game by Playground Games reached 178,009 concurrent players on Steam, the highest number of players in the Forza series on the platform. According to SteamDB data, the game reached its all-time peak with 178,009 concurrent players on May 16, 2026. In the same data, the game saw the same number in the 24-hour peak and rose to the top of Steam’s bestseller list. This table made Forza Horizon 6 by far one of the biggest releases of the series on the Steam side. Forza Horizon 5 reached its peak on Steam with 81,096 concurrent players on November 13, 2021.
Forza Horizon 4 reached its highest level with 75,689 concurrent players on June 30, 2024. Thus, Forza Horizon 6 more than doubled the peak of Forza Horizon 5 before the full version was released. On the Forza Motorsport side, the table was much more limited. According to SteamDB data, Forza Motorsport reached its peak by reaching 4,703 concurrent players on October 10, 2023. For this reason, the level reached by Forza Horizon 6 in early access reveals a remarkable difference not only for the Horizon sub-series, but also for modern Forza games on Steam.
Forza Horizon 6 comes with an open world structure set in Japan. On the official page, the game is described as the largest open-world driving adventure in the Forza Horizon series, with more than 550 real vehicles. Early access of the game has started for Premium Edition owners, and the standard release date is May 19, 2026. Microsoft Store and Steam are supported on the PC side, and Xbox Series X|S is supported on the console side.
The game has been added to the Game Pass library on the first day. The first appearance of the game on the critic side is also strong. On Metacritic, Forza Horizon 6 reached a metascore of 92 for the Xbox Series X version. The page lists the game under the Universal Acclaim label, and the majority of critic reviews are on the positive side. In the PC version, the score appears to be 89.
