BALIKESİR (AA) – In Balıkesir, teams from the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry carried out inspections in markets before Eid al-Adha. The teams inspected the businesses in the city center to protect consumer health and ensure food safety. The teams examined the products in the confectionery and delicatessen sections of the markets and checked whether the foods were suitable for consumption. During the inspections attended by Balıkesir Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, Hüseyin Düzgün, citizens were informed about checking the expiration dates of the products.
In his statement to AA correspondent after the inspections, Düzgün said that they carry out the inspections throughout the year to ensure that consumers have access to safe food. Stating that they continue to increase the inspections in the pre-holiday periods, Düzgün said: “During the holiday shopping periods, we intensively check the delicatessen sections, especially cake and confectionery products and minced meat for the processing of meat products.
We routinely check both the expiry date and the physical and hygiene conditions of the businesses. We also ask our citizens to be careful in this regard.” “During the holiday period, we will work with 165 veterinarians and 65 food control officers.”
