RTX 3060 returns! ASUS, MSI, Colorful and GALAX are preparing for production

The GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB model, released by NVIDIA in 2021, may return to the graphics card market again.

The GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB model, released by NVIDIA in 2021, may return to the graphics card market again. According to the new report, manufacturers such as Colorful, ASUS, MSI and GALAX have put RTX 3060 12 GB cards on the re-production schedule. Mass production of the cards is expected to start in July. Although the RTX 3060 12 GB is an old model based on the Ampere architecture, it still attracts attention due to its high VRAM capacity.

Especially for 1080p gaming, affordable system gaming and some light artificial intelligence workloads, 12 GB memory still provides a significant advantage. RTX 3060 12 GB may hit the shelves again in July 2026. According to information from Board Channels, NVIDIA is putting the GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB model into the production process again. It is stated that business partners such as ASUS, MSI, Colorful and GALAX will re-supply GPUs for this model.

It is reported that the production process will start in June and the cards will go into mass production in July. It is also among the shared information that the new production will not be high volume. The return of the RTX 3060 12 GB is more of an interim solution to current market demand than a large-scale next-generation launch. According to sources, NVIDIA considers this step within the scope of “strategic adjustment”.

There are several reasons behind the return of RTX 3060 12 GB. Chief among these are the stock pressure on the new generation RTX 50 series cards and the price imbalance in the entry-mid segment. The fact that the RTX 50 series is based on the TSMC 4nm production process makes the production capacity more valuable. RTX 3060 uses Samsung 8nm production process. For this reason, RTX 3060 production does not directly burden the TSMC capacity allocated for the RTX 50 series.

This distinction is important for NVIDIA. The company could bring an older but still in-demand model back to market without affecting production capacity for newer cards. In this respect, RTX 3060 12 GB stands out as an option that can alleviate stock problems and balance the price pressure to some extent. The strongest side of RTX 3060 12 GB, as the name suggests, is its 12 GB GDDR6 memory. The card comes with a 192-bit memory bus, 3,584 CUDA cores and Ampere architecture.

The model, which was positioned with a recommended price of $ 329 when it was released, has become one of the long-lasting cards over the years, especially thanks to its 12 GB VRAM capacity. However, RTX 3060 12 GB is not a new generation graphics card by today’s standards. Since it belongs to the RTX 30 series, it does not support new technologies found in the RTX 40 and RTX 50 series, such as DLSS Frame Generation and Multi Frame Generation.

On the DLSS side, the new Transformer-based models do not offer as powerful an experience as newer GPUs. On the pure processing power side, it lags behind newer cards such as the RTX 4060 and RTX 5060. Despite this, the card’s 12 GB VRAM capacity still makes it attractive against some new generation entry-level options. While memory usage increases in current games, cards with 8 GB VRAM reach the limit faster in some scenarios.

RTX 3060 is 12 GB, so although it is not the newest model on the performance side, it still attracts attention with its memory capacity. Delay claims on the RTX 5050 side may also be effective in the return of RTX 3060. It was previously rumored that RTX 5050 would come with 9 GB VRAM. The postponement of this model or its uncertain schedule may have caused NVIDIA to make room for the RTX 3060 12 GB again in order to prevent a gap in the entry-middle segment.

The main determining point here will be the price. The RTX 3060 12GB could still become a sensible option for 1080p gaming if it comes at the right price. However, if the price rises above $300, the appeal of the card decreases. Because there are also cards in the same price range that have newer architecture, are more efficient and support new DLSS features.
