ANKARA (AA) – Citizens in the capital crowded the slaughterhouses and sacrifice markets on the first day of Eid al-Adha. While some citizens loaded the sacrificial animals they had previously purchased onto pickup trucks, others preferred the slaughterhouses in the market area. Citizens who brought their animals to the designated area for slaughter and gave power of attorney to the butchers waited their turn in the waiting area set up next to the slaughterhouse.
Municipality personnel in the area offered water, tea and bagels to the citizens. Police teams also made constant inspections to ensure coordination in the sacrifice area and warned citizens about hygiene. While some breeders who have completed the sale of their animals are packing up their tents, citizens who leave the purchase of sacrificial animals until the Eid day are trying to buy animals that fit their budget by bargaining hard.
