KAHRAMANMARAŞ (AA) – İZZET MAZI/HAKAN CERAN – The story of the young girl who is preparing for the marriage she does not want in Elbistan district, the epicenter of the earthquakes that occurred on February 6, 2023, centered in Kahramanmaraş, will be brought to the big screen with the movie “Love and Debris”. The film, produced by Zeki Sincar and Kürşat Güçlü and written and directed by Ali Ayyıldız, tells the events that took place before and after the February 6 earthquakes in the axis of a love story.
The production, whose shooting was completed in Elbistan, is about the life of a young woman who was preparing for a marriage she did not want on the morning of the earthquake and whose life changes with the disaster. The film aims to convey to the audience the devastation caused by the earthquake, as well as people’s hopes, losses and struggles to hold on to life again. – The traces left by the earthquake on lives are told.
Zeki Sincar, one of the producers of the film, told the AA reporter that the story tells not only about the collapsed buildings, but also about the changing lives and destinies of people. Stating that they focused on the emotional transformation experienced by the characters, Sincar said, “Earthquake scenes are not heavily featured in the film. What we really want to talk about is the traces left by the great disaster in people’s lives.
“We are also planning for a second movie that will continue the story.” he said. Producer Kürşat Güçlü stated that they aimed to contribute to the promotion of Elbistan and draw attention to the experiences of families affected by the earthquake with the project. Scriptwriter and director Ali Ayyıldız stated that the people of the district gave great support during the shooting process and explained that they completed the preparations meticulously and implemented the project without any problems.
– “We became a little hopeful” Actress Mihriban Er said that they, like the whole of Türkiye, felt the pain of the February 6 earthquakes deeply. Stating that he saw the impact of the losses closely during his meetings with the people of the region, Er said: “When that earthquake happened, the whole of Türkiye cried, I’m sure of that. Maybe the whole world cried. Because it was a huge disaster and it left deep pain behind.
When I came here and talked to the public, I burst into tears with every story I heard. People are trying to hold on to life. Of course, life goes on, they have children, dreams and hopes. These are the things that enable them to embrace life. However, I saw the pain and sadness in their eyes and voices very clearly. I was very impressed by this. Maybe this movie will make a small contribution to healing those wounds.
When we came here, people approached us with great love, hugged and kissed us. “We became a little hopeful.” Actor Cem Özer also stated that the production tells a story from daily life, and in the final episode, it leaves the audience face to face with the bitter reality of the earthquake. Özer said, “The biggest pain for you is not your death. You don’t know it. Dying of loved ones and losing loved ones is a very difficult thing.
This is what we are trying to give from one end.” he said. Güneş İnan, who starred in the film, stated that she played a psychologically challenging character and said that the earthquake was the common pain of all humanity. The film “Love and Debris”, the shooting of which has been completed, is planned to meet moviegoers soon.
