HAKKARİ (AA) – SAYIM HARMANCI/HİKMET TEMEŞ – The transportation problem experienced on the Hakkari-Van highway as a result of the landslide that occurred in Hakkari was resolved with the alternative route opened and two panel bridges established as a result of the work of the Ministry of National Defense, Hakkari Governorship, Highways and DSI teams. The work was carried out by the 11th Regional Directorate of Highways to prevent citizens from having problems in transportation due to the road becoming unusable as a result of the landslide that occurred on April 13 in Akçalı village of the center.
In this context, a 39-meter panel bridge was built over the Zap River by the Ministry of National Defense, which stepped in to connect the 2.5-kilometer alternative road built in Tatlı village to the main road. A second panel bridge was established by the 11th Regional Directorate of Highways next to the bridge built by the Mehmetçik for the use of the route in question, where controlled crossings started with the completion of the bridge.
Thanks to the alternative route and the panel bridges built, the problem was eliminated and the driver and passengers regained uninterrupted transportation. State Hydraulic Works 17. Regional Directorate teams also worked on the banks of the Zap River, whose bed became narrower due to mass shifting soil. Teams working day and night against possible flood danger in the region also carried out fortifications at the point where the bridges are located.
Murat Arslan, one of the drivers passing through the region, thanked the institutions and personnel who contributed to the work in his statement to the AA correspondent. Stating that they had problems in transportation due to the landslide that occurred in the city, Arslan said: “We have two very beautiful bridges now. They were built to allow high-tonnage vehicles to pass. We do not have a road problem at the moment.
Everyone in the city expects an alternative road to be built in Berçelan. We were traveling for about 1.5 hours through the temporary routes that were opened before. It was both a ramp and troublesome, but thankfully it is comfortable now. Our bridges are also good. When we go from here, we pass in 10 minutes. God bless you.” – “Transportation from the previous route was problematic.” Driver Seyfettin Seyhan expressed that they were satisfied with the new roads and bridges built and said, “Thankfully, transportation has become easier.

DSI personnel Engin Çiğdem explained that two panel bridges have been opened to traffic in the region and said, “There is no problem now. New bridges will be built in the future. Tradesman Fevzi İrdem stated that they had difficulties in transportation due to the landslide, and that this problem was overcome with the roads and bridges built, and thanked those who contributed. Noting that the city has a geographically difficult structure, İrdem said, “Thank God, our alternative road has now been opened. Our request from our state elders is to open the Berçelan road. The road issue is an issue that concerns everyone.
We should not underestimate the service provided, but we should not be satisfied with this service.” he said.
