Torch lit to ask for a girl in Antalya caused a fire report

ANTALYA (AA) – Torches lit during the marriage ceremony in Antalya’s Serik district were reported by the neighborhood as fire. A group of young people who attended their friends’ asking for a girl ceremony in Kökez District marched on the street with torches in their hands. Neighborhood residents, mistaking the smoke from the burned torches for fire, called the fire brigade and reported the fire. Upon notice, fire brigade and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the neighborhood.

The young people, who saw the squad vehicles in front of them, first thought that there was a fire in the neighborhood, but then they realized that the teams had come because of the torches in their hands. Truck driver Batuhan Kutlu, who explained the incident to the journalists, said that his friends had a ceremony of asking for a girl and that they wanted to add color to this moment by taking a torch for this. Explaining that they started walking towards the bride-to-be’s house, Kutlu continued: “When we approached the house, we lit our torches.

When there was smoke from the fire of the torches, the residents of the neighborhood reported the fire to the fire brigade. The fire brigade and the gendarmerie came. At first, we thought there was a fire or other problem in the neighborhood.
