Eid al-Adha prayer was performed in the Balkans

Muslims in the countries of the region flocked to mosques in the morning to perform the Eid prayer. In Pristina, the capital of Kosovo, the Eid prayer was performed at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Mosque, as well as other mosques in the city, with the participation of Kosovo Islamic Union President Naim Tırnava.

After the prayer, Turkish Red Crescent offered Turkish delight and cologne to the public as a sign of traditional Turkish hospitality. After the prayer, citizens visited their relatives and their graves in the city cemeteries as a holiday tradition. The central ceremony for Eid al-Adha in North Macedonia was held at the Mustafa Pasha Mosque in the capital Skopje under the auspices of the Islamic Union of North Macedonia (Religious Affairs).

The holiday sermon was given in Albanian and Macedonian by Şakir Fetahu, President of the Islamic Union of North Macedonia. In Albania, this central holiday program was held on the Boulevard of the Martyrs of the Nation in the capital Tirana. Within the scope of the program attended by thousands of Muslims, the Holy Quran was read and prayers were made. Mosques throughout Bulgaria were full in the morning due to Eid al-Adha.

Muslims in the capital Sofia came together at the Kadı Seyfullah Efendi Mosque, the only mosque open for worship. Due to the inadequacy of the mosque, popularly known as “Banya Başı”, which has a capacity of approximately 300 people, most of the community performed the Eid prayer on the sidewalks in front of the mosque. – Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Croatia The Ottoman heritage Gazi Hüsrev Bey Mosque in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, hosted hundreds of Muslims who came to perform the Eid prayer.

President of the Islamic Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Husein Kavazovic, performed the Eid prayer in the historical mosque. In his holiday sermon, Kavazovic explained the importance of Eid al-Adha for Muslims and gave information about the sacrifice. Muslims also filled the mosques in Mostar, Srebrenica, Travnik, Zenica and other cities. Bayraklı, the only mosque in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, was overflowing with Muslims who wanted to perform the Eid prayer.

Muslims gathered in mosques to perform the Eid prayer in the cities of the Sandzak region, where the Bosniak population lives densely. Eid al-Adha was celebrated with enthusiasm and prayers were performed in the Osmanagic Mosque in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, and in mosques across the country. Muslims gathered in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, and celebrated the holiday with enthusiasm. Muslims in the country said takbirs after the Eid prayer.
