ELAZIĞ (AA) – Elazığ Governor Numan Hatipoğlu visited the security forces serving at the enforcement points in the city and celebrated their holidays. Governor Hatipoğlu, accompanied by Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Brigadier General Alpaslan Doğan and Provincial Police Chief Aydın Karalar, visited the police and gendarmerie teams on duty at the enforcement points and congratulated them on their holidays. In his statement to journalists, Hatipoğlu congratulated the entire Islamic world on Eid al-Adha and wished that the holiday would be peaceful and well-being. Stating that the teams will be on the field during the holiday for the safety of the citizens, Hatipoğlu said: “Our teams will continue to work devotedly, 24 hours a day, as they did before, so that our citizens can celebrate the holiday in peace and well-being in Elazığ.
Today is the eve, we first celebrated the holiday with our martyrs’ families at our martyrs’ cemeteries. Then, we held an official holiday program in our governorship and visited our martyrs’ families with our protocol. On this occasion, I congratulate the Eid of our beloved nation and the Islamic world, especially our martyrs’ families and veterans. I hope this holiday will also be instrumental in providing the peace, well-being and security we need in many geographies, especially in Gaza and from East Turkestan to the interior of Africa.” 11The water discharged from a height of 173 meters at the Karakaya Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant (HEPP) in Çüngüş district of Diyarbakır turned into a visual feast.
The amount of water in the basin of Karakaya Dam and HEPP, Turkey’s third largest dam and second largest hydroelectric power plant, reached 9.5 billion cubic meters with heavy rainfall. In the Karakaya Dam and HEPP, which has an installed capacity of 1800 megawatts with a total of 6 units, 2 discharge gates of the dam were opened in the first place on May 11, after 7 years, against the risk of possible floods due to the water level approaching the maximum level.
The discharge of pressurized water from the dam set, whose body height is 173 meters, turned into a visual feast. Rainbows occasionally form in the region due to sunlight.
