ANKARA (AA) – Former CHP Ankara Deputy Yılmaz Ateş visited CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. In his statement to journalists after the visit to Kılıçdaroğlu’s residence, Ateş said that CHP was going through a difficult process. Stating that he does not want the CHP to deal with its own internal problems at a time when it should offer solutions to Turkey’s problems, Ateş pointed out the importance of preserving the unity and solidarity of the party.
Expressing that he shared his concerns and thoughts on this issue with Kılıçdaroğlu, Ateş wished the party to get rid of its internal problems as soon as possible and focus on Turkey’s general problems. Pointing out that Turkey is going through a difficult period and the war environment continues around it, Ateş said, “The CHP should focus not only on its own problems, but also on regional problems, world problems and European problems.
I shared these thoughts with Mr. Chairman. I hope that the Republican People’s Party will return to its primary duties as soon as possible.” he said. Ateş underlined that the important thing is not to damage democracy and national unity in Turkey, and that the main opposition party has as much responsibility in this regard as the government. A journalist asked, “As someone who has worked for the party for many years, how would you interpret yesterday’s images?” To the question, Ateş said, “I watched with a heavy heart.
It shouldn’t have come to this point. It wasn’t the right thing. None of us wanted this problem to arise. None of us did. But after this problem emerged, everyone should do their best to solve it.” He replied: On the other hand, CHP MPs Faik Öztrak and Mahir Polat and former CHP MP Yıldırım Kaya were among those who visited Kılıçdaroğlu throughout the day.
