KIRIKKALE (AA) – The body of Gendarmerie Petty Officer Yusuf Ergün (37), who was martyred when he was hit by a car while cleaning tire tracks on the road in Ankara’s Bala district, was buried in his hometown, Kırıkkale. Martyr Ergün’s body was brought to Nur Mosque and Social Complex for the funeral. The brother of the martyr, who was learned to have three siblings and was a specialist sergeant, attended the funeral wearing his camouflage.

After the funeral prayer at noon, Ergün’s body was buried in Kırıkkale Martyrdom. Ergün’s family and relatives as well as Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Çelik, Gendarmerie General Commander General Ali Çardakcı, Kırıkkale Governor Hüseyin Engin Sariibrahim, Kırşehir Governor Murat Sefa Demiryürek, AK Party Kırıkkale Deputy Mustafa Kaplan, MHP Kırıkkale Deputy Halil Öztürk, Kırıkkale Garrison Commander Brigadier General Mehmet Ali Durmuş, Mayor Ahmet Önal, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Colonel Hasan Acar, Provincial Police Chief Mustafa Işık, protocol members, provincial heads of political parties and citizens attended.

While Gendarmerie Petty Officer First Sergeant Yusuf Ergün was working to clear the tire tracks on the Bala section of the Ankara-Niğde Highway yesterday, he was seriously injured when the car with plate number 34 AJB 073, driven by Esra Ç, crashed into him. Despite the interventions made at Gölbaşı State Hospital, where he was taken, he could not be saved and was martyred.
