TBILISI (AA) – Georgian President Mikhel Kavelashvili visited the Tbilisi Friday Mosque and congratulated Muslims on Eid al-Adha.

TBILISI (AA) – Georgian President Mikhel Kavelashvili visited the Tbilisi Friday Mosque and congratulated Muslims on Eid al-Adha. Kavelashvili attended the Eid celebration program at the Tbilisi Friday Mosque in the evening on the occasion of Eid al-Adha and met with the Muslim citizens of his country. Speaking at the program attended by Turkey’s Tbilisi Ambassador Mustafa Türker Arı, Azerbaijan’s Tbilisi Ambassador Faik Guliyev, Georgia’s State Religious Affairs Agency President Zaza Vaşakmadze, officials of the All Georgian Muslims Administration, diplomats and citizens, Kavelashvili congratulated Muslims on Eid al-Adha.

Stating that Georgia is a rich country with its national and religious diversity, Kavelashvili said, “Our homeland, Georgia, is proud that people of different beliefs have lived together in our country for centuries.” he said. Kavelashvili emphasized that Georgia has strong relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan and stated that this is important for peace and stability in the Caucasus region. Following President Kavelashvili, President of the State Religious Affairs Agency Vashakmadze, Mufti of Muslims of Eastern Georgia Etibar Eminov, Mufti of Muslims of Western Georgia Adam Shantadze and Sheikh of All Georgian Muslims Faik Nebiyev also made speeches.
