TEKİRDAĞ (AA) – FIRAT ÇAKIR – Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University (NKÜ) Faculty of Agriculture Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Korkmaz Bellitürk said that ensuring the correct use of fertilizer by having soil analysis done increases the productivity and profits of producers. Bellitürk stated to the AA correspondent that the structure of the soil should be known for sustainable efficiency and profitability in agricultural production.
Stating that soil analysis is an important guide for producers, Bellitürk said that thanks to the analysis, the nutrients needed by the soil can be determined accurately. Pointing out that the fertilization and maintenance practices made according to the analysis results directly contribute to the income of the producers, Bellitürk said: The earnings of a farmer who has his soil analyzed and uses the right fertilizer increases by at least 20 percent.
This increase in net income is clearly seen when all expenses are deducted. Producers who apply fertilizers, pesticides and maintenance procedures in accordance with the analysis results always benefit. – According to the analysis results, the habit of using fertilizer has now become a necessity. Bellitürk stated that producers can better understand the fertility status of their soil thanks to the analysis, and stated that unconscious use of fertilizer can lead to both economic losses and environmental problems.
Emphasizing that soil is an important heritage that should be passed on to future generations, Bellitürk said that producers should follow developing agricultural technologies as well as traditional methods. Bellitürk drew attention to the importance of farmers having regular soil analysis and said, “Our farmers should have their soil analyzed just as they have their vehicles maintained regularly.
