ABUJA (AA) – Turkish Religious Foundation (TDV) delivered sacrificial meat to approximately 400 thousand people in Nigeria, the most populous country on the African continent and with the highest Muslim population.
TDV, in cooperation with the Presidency of Religious Affairs, organized sacrifice by proxy in 84 countries this year, within the scope of the 2026 Sacrifice by Proxy Organization, carried out with the slogan “Share your sacrifice, get closer to your brother.”
TDV, which completed the sacrifice organization in Nigeria, one of the countries where the organization was carried out, is the most populous country on the African continent and has the highest Muslim population, and carried out sacrifice activities in 11 regions, including the capital Abuja, as well as states and major cities such as Kano, Sokoto, Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Ibadan, Niger and Jigawa.
The sacrificial animals, which were provided by foundation officials and volunteers who came to the country before the Eid and with donations from philanthropists, were slaughtered in the slaughtering areas after veterinary inspection. Meat was distributed to poor citizens in packages of 5 and 10 kilograms each.
Citizens showed great interest in the distribution across the country. Volunteers also came together with children in rural parts of the city and made them smile with gifts.

TDV Nigeria Coordinator Arif Kılıçoğlu told the AA correspondent that they have completed the sacrificial slaughter and distribution process in Nigeria within the scope of the sacrifice organization by proxy.
Stating that sacrifices were made in 11 different regions of the country, Kılıçoğlu said, “We were aiming to reach 250 thousand families in our pre-Eid planning, but in line with the favor of our nation, we reached nearly 400 thousand families in Nigeria by delivering 45 thousand shares of sacrifice entrusted to us to those in need.” On this occasion, we would like to thank TDV donors and our beloved nation. he said.
Kılıçoğlu explained that coupons were distributed to the needy people determined by the Islamic authorities in the villages of Africa and in this way, the needy people were directly reached, and noted that they delivered an average of 20-25 kilograms of meat to each family.
Kılıçoğlu reminded that TDV has been continuing the sacrifice program by proxy for more than 30 years and said, “Overseas sacrifice donations are increasing day by day. There is serious aid in the oppressed regions, especially in Africa, Asia and the Balkans. Our nation has a serious interest in oppressed geographies and crisis regions. he said.
