ERZİNCAN (AA) – EMİN FERHAT SEVİLİR – Former football player and coach Mustafa Yılmaz Toyran, who lives in Erzincan, contributes to the production of agriculture, which he started 6 years ago as a hobby, with 600 cherry trees grown on 11 decares of land. 60-year-old Toyran, an experienced sportsman who played football in professional leagues for years and worked as a coach, produces organically in the cherry orchard he established to spend his remaining time from football after retiring from the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports.
Continuing his work in his garden in Yeniköy, connected to the center, Toyran expects a productive harvest of sour cherries this year. Toyran told the AA correspondent that he was unfamiliar with the agricultural sector, but he turned to sour cherry production with the advice of his agricultural engineer friend. Stating that sour cherries are an important product for fruit juice factories, Toyran said, “This is our sixth year, but we are working here like a child.
Hopefully this year is our product year, let’s see if we have the chance, we will release it to the fruit juice factory and the market. he said. Explaining that they do organic farming, Toyran said, “We produce completely naturally grown cherries. We also have certificates regarding this. Our main job is football. I spend my free time here after football, I don’t go to the market much. When it reaches full capacity, around 25-30 tons of product is expected.
It also depends on the weather condition. So if the weather goes well but right now the crop looks good. Because sour cherry is a late blooming fruit. he said. – We are in football, we will work again when given the task. Toyran continued as follows: People have this perception about my hobbies: ‘It is as if I have moved away from football, it has nothing to do with football.’ Actually, I am a trainer. Last year I coached Anagold 24 Erzincanspor and I am the one who started this team.
I am the one who took him from the amateur league to the professional league. I have worked in Türkiye’s 1st League, 2nd League, 3rd League, I have championships. So we are in football, we will work again when given the task. he said. Explaining that he has trained many students and coaches, Toyran said: “I am a producer as well as sports. We have trained hundreds of football players so far, and now we are trying to grow cherries.
Of course, we will also train football players. I want to do ambitious things in sour cherry, that is, I want to produce beautiful products. The athletes we trained even played in the 1st League, I am proud. This is a place where I relieve stress, relax and release my energy. That’s why I enjoy working here. This is my relaxation area. I am very happy to do what I did, but the agricultural sector is a difficult job. May God not waste everyone’s efforts.
