The Presidency of Religious Affairs provides memorization training to Muslim children in Uganda

KAMPALA (AA) – The Presidency of Religious Affairs provides training in memorization and Islamic sciences to Muslim children living in Uganda. The trainings are coordinated by religious officials in training centers located in three different regions in the country, under the control of the Religious Services Consultancy of the Presidency of Religious Affairs. Officials who came to the country within the scope of the Sacrifice by Proxy Program organized by the Turkish Religious Foundation (TDV) in Uganda, visited the Isar Memory Center and Isar Mosque in the Buddo region with Ramazan Pehlivanoğlu, Religious Services Advisor of the Presidency of Religious Affairs.

The delegation provided cash aid and distributed various gifts to the students at the center. Pehlivanoğlu told the AA correspondent that, as the Presidency of Religious Affairs, they have been carrying out various activities in Uganda since 2008. Pehlivanoğlu stated that 48 hafizes received training at the Isar Hafiz Center under the coordination of religious official Yılmaz Karadoğan, and said that apart from the Isar Hafiz Center, there are two other centers in the country.

Karadoğan, who works at the Isar Hafiz Center and mosque, explained that the basic education is memorization training and that Arabic, fiqh, tafsir and hadith courses are also given in Islamic sciences.

Stating that the students learn Islamic rules as well as memorizing the Holy Quran, Karadoğan said, “We take care to select our students from primary school graduates, from 16 different regions, and from places with a low Muslim population.
