HATAY (AA) – ALİ KEMAL ZERENLİ – A turnover of 51 million 86 thousand liras was reached last year with the productions made by students in the workshops at Dörtyol Recep Atakaş Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Hatay. Production is carried out within the scope of revolving fund activities in 7 different workshops within the school, including informatics, machinery, metal, chemistry, electrical-electronic technologies, furniture and interior design and food and beverage services.

Students both learn the intricacies of the profession and earn income by working in different workshops, from cleaning materials to tables and desks, from paint to food production. Last year, a turnover of 51 million 86 thousand lira was reached with the production carried out by 23 teachers and 65 students at the school. – We are thinking of revising our turnover this year to 70 million. Ali Güven, Deputy Technical Director of the school, told the AA reporter that they carry out various productions within the scope of revolving fund in their schools.

Güven stated that they sent the liquid soap, cologne, paint and furniture they produced to many places, especially the dormitories of the Credit and Dormitories Institution, and stated that they contributed to the students’ experience as well as the country’s economy with the work in their workshops. Güven stated that they prepared lunches for 2 thousand people in 11 primary schools in the district and said: We make a turnover of around 10-15 million lira from paint alone.

We also continue to produce furniture. We have a turnover of approximately 17-20 million liras in food and beverage production. Our turnover last year was 51 million 86 thousand liras. We are considering revising our turnover this year to 70 million. Güven stated that in addition to production, they also carry out smart board maintenance and repairs for nearby schools. Metal Technology Field Chief Latif Akel also stated that they produce at more affordable costs than the private sector.

Emphasizing that students learn the intricacies of the profession and earn money through the production in the workshops, Akel said, “Our students earn an income from this.” With this income, they contribute to themselves and their family budgets. They are motivated for production and profession. One of the most important things is that it provides children with confidence. he said. Berat Çözmez, a 10th grade student in the metal department, stated that he learned a profession and earned income thanks to the workshops at the school, and that he wanted to open a business after graduation.
